ABOUT US

Giving Hope To The Marginalised

Community Hope is a local Malawian Non-Governmental Organization (NGO), NON-profit and NON-political, that focuses on activities that support and complement government's efforts on Orphans, vulnerable children and marginalised people. The organisation was founded in 2015 and registered as a Trustee in 2016.

WHAT WE DO

Uplifting Lives in Our Community

Vulnerable and marginalized groups are those that face multiple forms of discrimination based on various grounds such as race, tribe, gender, age, marital status, HIV status, social and economic status, disability, harmful cultural practices, and religion.

At Community Hope, we work with government, civil society institutions and citizens to support laws, policies and practices that advance welfare of vulnerable children and marginalized groups.

OUR WORK

Our Focus

Community Hope works directly with more than 25000 children and youth, and more than 50000 community members.

Childcare and Protection

We realize that children are abused in different ways while care and protection is the responsibility of all individuals and institutions in the society and it entails of taking responsibility for issues children faces in the community. The bottom line is to ensure children do not suffer any harm whether intentional or otherwise.

Water and Sanitation

Community Hope is implementing water and sanitation projects in order to provide access to safe and portable water to communities, the project involves rehabilitation of boreholes in Primary schools and Early childhood development centres.

Health, Nutrition and HIV/AIDS prevention and management

Community Hope is working in the area of health and AIDS. We recognize the Problems associated with HIV/AIDS and Community Hope promote preventive measures and care for the infected and affected more especially women and children.

Good Governance

Community Hope realizes that all people have the right to be involved in decision making with regard to the matters that are important to them. The concept of Human rights acknowledges that every human being is entitled to enjoy his or her human rights without distinction as to race, gender, color, language, religion, political or other opinion, birth or status.

Food security and Sustainable Livelihoods

Community Hope is promoting small scale irrigation, winter cropping, crop diversification and other improved agriculture farming practices.

Environment and climate change adaptation.

Community Hope realizes that God gave man stewardship over all-natural resources. Due to overpopulation, poverty and other factors, man has destroyed the habitat which God gave him and his environment is degraded, polluted and unsafe.

Disaster Management, Responding to Emergencies, Disaster Risk Reduction and Psychosocial Support.

Malawi is prone to floods, drought and other calamities. Community Hope will therefore respond to these calamities and by way of giving emergency response and mitigating its effects. Community Hope will also promote recovery programs to those affected with floods and other calamities as a long-term measure
